Special topics of Environmental and Behavior

“Environmental behavioral study” is one of the main methods in architectural studies. For increasing graduate school students’ ability of behavioral studies, we extend the knowledge of environmental behavior in the university period, and design this course. Because different environment will correspond to different behavior, and specific behavior needs specific environment to support (meanwhile, specific environment factor will also cause specific behavior), we have to avoid attracting unexpected behavior, and try to facilitate expected behavior while planning or designing. Briefly, the course aims to let students understand the interaction between environment and behavior, and further to have deeper discussion on design or planning issues by using environmental behavioral theory.

Educational Aims

Research including the analysis of multiple physical factors and single physical factor in environment, the integration of environment control and architectural engineering, the influence of the evolution of environmental control technics towards the development of sustainable architects…etc… The environment of ecology, sound, heat, light, air, water is included.

Basic accomplishment and ability

- Architectural professional knowledge and interdisciplinary breakthrough
